Yale University, Paris-Panthéon-Assas Université and ESSEC Business School have agreed on the initiative of a common Summer School, all held in english, designed for selected Law and/or Economics students interested in Contract Arbitration and Amicable Dispute Resolution (ADR).
At the end of the program, a "Certificate in Private Law and Economics in the United States of America and in France (Contracts, Arbitration and Dispute Resolution)", jointly signed by the academic directors of Yale University, Paris-Panthéon-Assas Université and ESSEC Business School, is delivered to students.

The Yale-Assas université-ESSEC Summer School will be held from: June 23, 2025 to July 18, 2025

- Classes: Monday to Friday (typically from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm)
- Social and cultural events: organized on certain days (visit of museums or institutions)
- Group profile: around 10 participants from each of the 3 institutions
- Location: Paris-Panthéon-Assas University, 92 rue d'Assas, 75006 Paris (FRANCE).

The number of participants will be limited to 30 (10 from each partner school).
Application criteria
To apply, students must meet the following criteria:
- hold a M1 or M2 (preferably in Economics, Law or Finance) by the start of the Summer School.
- or be enrolled in a Grande École or a Political Science Institute.
- subject to approval by the program manager, L3 candidates may be considered.
Preference will be given to students in their 4th/5th year of studies (M1/M2) and PhD students.
Applicants must have a sufficient command of the English language for studying the required readings and participating in rigorous classroom discussions.

Seminars
- Topics will include: The Economics and law of contract enforcement; Economics and law of the burden and standards of Proof; Harmonization of Legal Systems; Dispute Resolution Mechanism in International Business Contracts.
- The lecturers will be Emmanuelle Chevreau (Paris-Panthéon-Assas Université); Holger Spamann (Harvard University); E. de Fontenay (Duke University); G. Rauterberg (Michigan University).
In addition, some specific events will take place:
- Team-building seminar organized by ESSEC at the beginning of the program.
- Case-studies and visits to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the OECD and academic conferences.
A detailed schedule will be provided to participants in due time.
Students will be evaluated through exams for each class and will be required to solve problem sets, based on the content of the lectures given by the co-directors of the program.
The final grade of the certificate obtained by participants will be calculated as follows (subject to change):
- 50% exams
- 30% problem sets
- 20% student participation
Attendance of all lectures is mandatory to obtain the Certificate.
